The Barn

Winfield Community Theatre began 1967 as a creative outlet and an entertainment resource for Cowley County. Through 31 years of production at The Barn Theatre at the Winfield Fairgrounds, WCT maintained a tradition of entertainment and creativity. We presented shows from every theatrical genre and time frame. After striking "Blithe Spirit", our 117th and final production in The Barn, The Walnut River overflowed its banks and flooded The Barn once again. This, however, was a more severe flood. Once the waters receded, we learned that the structure was beyond repair and we were forced to find a new theatre. In June of 2003, we started a new era in Meyer Hall with "Fiddler on the Roof." While we were between theatres, we were able to produce several shows. They included "Schoolhouse Rock: Live" with the Southwestern College Drama Department, "Steel Magnolia", "Nunsense", and "Beyond The Horizon" just to name a few. We would especially like to thank Roger and Allyson Moon at Southwestern College and Amanda Porter at Winfield High School for their support and use of facilities.

The Archives

Besides information about our current shows, this web site is set up as living history of Winfield Community Theatre. It is a work in progress. We have a history of Winfield Community Theatre. This was a paper written by Warren Andreas for the WInfield Historical Society in January of 2005. We also have a complete list of all the WCT Productions including director and Hambone winner. Many of the shows have their own page. These shows will have an active link on the Show List. You can view just the page you want or browse using the links at the top and bottom of the page. We do not have complete information for all our shows. If you have programs, photos, or other memories of earlier shows you can share with us, please let us know. It is our goal to have a page for every show.
